Day 17 - Benirass for the Drums

16:00
After our last nights sleep at Cala Comte we packed everything up. We exchanged numbers with Steve who we had met on the first day. He has been a useful source for advice and really is a nice man. He included us in his little "family" for our stay and was genuinely sorry to see us leave. Teaches you alot about people when you only know someone for a few days and they welcome you so easily.

Now we have taken a wild camping spot at Benirass on Steve's advice. Cooking a pizza on the Cobb and we will go and watch the drums in a bit. We had a little mooch around a smaller and less painful hippy market as we got here. Bracelets purchased and I am happy.

20:00
We are sat on the beach listening to the drums. Very busy here. Everyone seems to be selling mojitos for a killing (5 euros for a small and 10 euros for large). We have just seen the lady selling them next to us pull out wads of 50euro notes...at least €350..damn, we missed a trick here. Others have cold beers and paninis for sale. We have a bottle of champagne, which I forgot the glasses for. Oopsie! But, not the first time we have had to drink from the champagne bottle. We keep seeing people we know here lol. Sunday must be the day for Benirass.

We also had to move the van after our pizza earlier. The police arrived and took everyone's registrations, looked at documentation for the people who spoke spa ish and moved everyone on. We didn't get told to produce anything as we didnt have a clue what the man was saying. However, having spoken to our fellow hippy friends they said you have to move when they tell you or you risk a fine of 100euros if they find you there again. A risk we weren't willing to take, we have moved to a more stealthy location.

It turns out the "solo turismos" sign was the downfall...we weren't supposed to be there, along with two other T4's, a T25 and the hippy Renault high top van. But when we moved on the police gestered to us to go down a track, turns out this was the place Steve was telling us about and was pukka for wild camping. This had a few more campervans tucked away on a single track dirt road...we found our spot quite far down in a bamboo bush where I had to do a 20-point turn! Seriously glad I'm getting a respray soon...
