Day 9 - Camping with the hippies!

14:30
Sat under the trees bathing in the sun.
Had an early night last night...thank god we did...the music at the bar sounded like a sacrifice was happening, so we just bedded down and slept.

It's been a pretty chilled day today, we had breakfast early. Major fail when I (Rebecca) went to buy the milk, only to return with tiger nut milk, god knows what it is, but this hippy milk is rank. Anyways, after that I did some much awaited washing.

We have just had lunch finished with a couple of beers, it's a hard life. Later we plan to listen to the dj at the beach bar, but if it's as weird as last night we will probs just go for a walk.

19:00
Looks like all we do is eat, sleep and drink lol...well, we are on holiday! Tonight's scran is saffron rice, Spanish pork kebabs and grilled chilli / garlic onions and peppers...double yum.

We cooked all but the rice on the Cobb. After home & bargains ran out / stopped supplying the lokki bricks Christian found an alternative at Chas Olson. These are coconut she'll briquettes, eco brick thingys. 3kg for £3.40...not bad as you get loads and they light quick and burn for a couple of hours, depending on how many you use.

After dins we went in search of said dj. Couldnt find any action around...shame as we were up for a boogy, but instead we shared a couple of bottles of Bordeaux and watched our first few episodes of breaking bad...which is awesome so far, as we were told. We had a lovely "movie date night".

Day 8 - we don't know what day it is and we don't care!

14:00
Day 8 and we have rocked up at camping ibiza laplaya http://www.campingibizalaplaya.com/

Last night's sleep at amante, another wild camp, worked a treat. However, we have decided we need a few days to spread out and decamp a little...clean Vera etc. We have booked in for 3 nights, which cost 117 euro with hookup. Not the cheapest, but the site is right on the beach and has plenty of facilities, it's also the first time we will have paid to stay in a campsite...other than the 3 euros at the Aires. The site also has an awesome hippy beach bar, currently playing bob Marley and full of people chilling out. Feeling a little out of place in my topshop cover up, minus the nose rings, joint and beads...maybe I will sort that later.

Again, sorry for the blurge of photos now. We will re arrange when we can use a laptop...on the phones the app is poop.

My favourite bocadillos; two types of salami, ali oli (garlic butter), big green tomato (like a green pepper taste) and a slice of emmantal:

19:00
We have just finished an awesome little Cobb meal. Spanish fajitas, homemade. Yum!

Recipe:
Whole corn fed chicken, marinated in dry chicken seasoning, harissa paste, salt and a little bit of oil. Slow cooked on the Cobb in a roasting bag.

After an hour we added the onions and red / green peppers to the bottom. These were in foil parcels and seasoned with salt, chilli flakes, garlic and oil.

An hour later, we took Pedro the chicken off and popped a few wraps in the top of the Cobb.

Chicken carved, we made the wraps up, adding sliced green tomatoes and the secret ingredient - ali oli, which completely made the fajitas.

Now, we are fed and sat here debating whether to have an early night or join in with the band that are at the bar...tough decisions in this life ;)

Day 7 - Rebecca's 30th Amante Beach Club

13:00
So we woke this morning at the beautiful Cala Comte wild camp, sliding door open all night with the cool sea breeze and the sound of the lapping waves from the beach below, bam somebody's thirty! So that meant I was on duty for cooking breaky and cleaning up. Herb du Provence scrambled egg it was, on stale warburtons...only the best for my lady :-) We also had a pre breakfast dip in the sea below to wake up. Perfect. Out came the hozelock pump shower for a full soapy fresh water clean for the day ahead.

We had accepted we hadn't enough supplies so decided en route to Amante to restock at the supermarket. They really are so much better on the continent with a great selection of fish, meats and fresh veggies.

The 30kms drive to the other side of the island makes you realise Eivissa is quite a large place and we aren't going to see it all really. We passed plenty more T4s and T25s campers too..it seems its quite popular among the Spanish to come camp here. Which reminds me, everywhere we have been and everyone we have met (bar Steve) has been Spanish, French or Italian, not a pink English lager lout in sight.

So we got parked up in the pine forest next door to another T4 and Amante Beach club, a personal favourite hangout of ours from a few years back. I had booked it in advance as it is essential.
So right now we've had a few swims in the sea, a nice cold fresh water shower and are currently enjoying some refreshments chillin on the sofa bags with the warm Ibiza sun, cool sea breeze and some great Balearic beats on in the back ground . Perfect day so far.

Day 6 - Cala Comte

15:00
Woken up with a bit of a sore head today, but we cant complain as its another beautiful day, this island just keeps giving. Had a morning dip and ate some beans on toast. We were planning on taking a bike ride to the shops to buy some food for dinner, but the nearest is in san an and we don't want to lose our spot...so we are making do with the store cupboard and will eat dinner at one of the beach bars later.

We headed off to have said dinner. We went to a restaurant a little further out tonight, I had some beautiful grilled monkfish and Christian had some even more beautiful grilled grouper. Lovely. Although it didn't quite cut the grain in terms of filling our tums, so off we went for some mussels at sunset ashram, with a couple of beers and strawberry daiquiri to finish.

Sunset Ashram lives up to its name, giving you a sunset mambos would be jealous of. We sat and relaxed watching our second Ibiza sunset to some sweet Balearic beats. They also had a live singer who was brilliant. After, we had a wonder back to the van and chilled out before bed.

Day 5 Part 2 - Cala Comte

14:00
Will come back to this post in more when I get some charge but we've moved on from Cala Bassa to Cala Comte and have stumbled on an awesome wild along spot with loads of T4s T25s and all manner of other contraptions...were parked up next to Steve, another Brit who has been here 3 years...and you can't tell
..and its over looking a nudist beach lol.

We popped down to the sunset bar for lunch and then had a bit of a swim to cool off. We arrived back to the van just in time to see Steve taking his dog "ziggy" out to sea in his canoe...naked. Steve obviously embraces island living cos he found his chicken salad lunch in the bin...he also wears plasters on his ears to make him look like an elf. But, each to their own, he has loads of knowledge about the island and told us there are limited wild camping locations in eivissa now. The police come up every few weeks and tell everyone to move on, but noone ever does.

Everyone is very friendly here, even the dogs! We shared our dinner with a dog called fanny. After a few too many wines, a swim and a chat with a local squatter, we bedded down...mozzy net up and sliding door open, lush!

Day 5 - part 1 Cala Bassa Beach Club

11:00
Well we made it to Ibiza last night, can't update last nights post without blogger crashing so just gonna tag it onto this one.

Ferry journey was fine, just over four hours and the ferry goes some too. It makes you realise how far from the mainland we are. Food and beer a plenty on the ferry at reasonable prices and it was air conditioned. We called the other day to confirm it was booked and was OK and were told the return is on the 23rd mow not the 26th...but at the ferry port the booking was still the same?!

So we disembarked in San Antonio and hot footed it right out of there. Memories of ten years ago working in the West End came flooding back. We decided we wouldn't venture too far for the first night and headed over to Cala Bassa. There is a campsite here but for some reason we were attracted to the main car park?! Found a fairly shady spot and parked up. Grabbed the Cobb and the food we bought earlier and off we went to the beach.

The coconut shell briquettes from class ohlson were lit and put on the Cobb...we had used some at Tatton and were slow burners so put four on this time. Much the same really, slow burners. We cooked the Spanish style rack of ribs quite slowly, which wasn't a bad thing, the mandatory Spanish white onion and tomato salad was next along with a few all chopped potatoes with garlic and chilli. Washed down with some Mahou cerveza as the sun set...we finally made it and felt relaxed!

What followed that night at the bar was hilarious! Will let Rebecca explain.

After having some nice scran on the beach we went in search of the source of the Balearic beats we could hear. What we came across was ace...walking into the bar was like a scene from dirty dancing... the "I carried a watermelon" part. People grinding all over each other, salsa, or whatever you want to call it. Completely full of locals just having a great time. I was in my element as I love dancing. Christian was in his element for other reasons...shakira in the corner who was wearing virtually nothing and shaking what her mama gave her put on an awesome show. We decided to sit back and watch the action over a few beers...was a fun first night.

Following a pleasant and cool sleep, thanks to the mighty fan, we put some music on and made breakfast. The car park attendant told us we weren't allowed to stay over night, so 4euros later and a couple of Los sientos, he was happy.

Right now its 12.30, I'm lying on the beach having just had an omelette. This is what its all about and what we came for. I'm just waiting on christian getting me a beer...

Day 4 Valencia to Ibiza

13:00
We had a sweaty sleep in the ferry port last night, which also was pretty safe in terms of wild camping, contrary to popular belief. There was plenty of security, but I did sleep with one eye open, even though it was fine.

We got up early doors and headed to the supermarket for the essentials. We found a massive mall with a carrefour a few km from the port, but it didn't have what we needed. So we headed a little further out to a bigger carrefour, which also had an auto parts shop where we got some liquid gasket with a view to fixing the thermostat gasket... Its leaking ever so slightly but no big deal at the moment.

Had our first dip in the sea after the supermarket which was quite refreshing having not had a shower last night...whilst we have a shower we used the water for it! Also got a sim card for €10 from Carrefour supermarket, it comes with €10 of credit and 300mb of data for the month. I used €6 of that to buy an additional 500mb of data so that should now do us for the trip.

Just about to board the ferry so adios!
